We are excited to announce that Dr. Colby Jones will be serving as GCCA’s College Advisor, giving guidance to college-bound Rhetoric students during their high school years.
Read MoreAt GCCA, Literature classes are devoted to the study of primary sources. While there may not be a clearly-defined, signed and sealed “western canon,” we still recognize the existence of an ongoing, more-or-less continuous literary tradition that stems from Christian commitment. This tradition often harkens back, with carefully-cultivated allusion, to many ancient or classical sources that reflect God’s truth in various ways even though they were written by non-Christians (as Dante refers to Virgil, or as Milton to Homer). Real openness to God’s truth wherever it may be found, gives us freedom to read appreciatively and discerningly from a wide array of sources outside the Bible — and not just the “western” ones, either!

I am grateful for the order that allows the teaching we do to grow in fertile soil. I thank God that Grace is a place where discipline happens, because it means that it is a place that discipleship can happen

May we strive to be like Isaac Newton (the Father of Calculus), seeing our own work, whatever that work may be, as a way of investigating God’s own handiwork…

Read MoreIn a proper education our whole person is being transformed…One proper response to a proper education is being a doer of the Word, not just a hearer…Another proper response is having hearts of gratitude. We need to be thankful to God first and foremost; for blessing us with this opportunity, that is so rare in today’s society, for giving us parents that are fulfilling their God-given roles to guide, lead, and train their children, the next generation of immortal souls, to love and serve the LORD (Proverbs 22:6).

Read MoreOur students are learning that God may call them into politics or may call them to stand before kings, or He may call them to risk their lives by tending the sick, or He may call them to military service to defend His people. Whatever they do in life, they know it will fail if they do not serve in the name of the Lord; and they cannot serve in the name of the Lord if they are not in His word listening for His leading and learning His ways.
Our society tells us that children are a burden…The Bible tells us, though, that children are THE most important work.

Read MorePeriodically throughout our school year, we will feature articles in our series, “Glimpses of Grace: Stories of God At Work At GCCA.” In this month’s article, Grace Classical Christian Academy first grade teacher, Mrs. Faith Hurt, shares how she has seen God at work both in her classroom as well as in her own home.
Read MoreExcellent teachers of the art of rhetoric would require that, before one may argue against an opponent’s viewpoint, one must state that viewpoint in terms which one's opponent agrees accurately portray it. It’s said that the best debaters are capable of arguing the opposite side’s views better than the opposite side itself. The art of rhetoric - the winsome expression of all the knowledge and know-how gathered up in the years before - being the crowning stage of a classical and Christian education, those of us in this movement should have a better handle on this than most.
